The Tilta Nucleus Autofocus Adapter Base Kit (Sony E to ARRI PL) brings Sony's advanced autofocus capabilities to professional and vintage PL-mount cinema lenses when shooting with compatible Sony cinema cameras. Designed for the Sony FX3, FX30, and FX6, this system provides filmmakers with a practical way to combine the character and optical performance of PL glass with the speed and convenience of modern autofocus operation.
At the center of the kit is a Sony E to ARRI PL-mount autofocus adapter, providing a secure interface between compatible Sony E-mount cameras and PL-mount lenses. The system is designed to take advantage of the camera's autofocus technology, helping operators maintain focus while working with cinema lenses that would traditionally require manual focus control.
For secure integration into professional camera rigs, the kit includes a 15mm rod adapter and two 15mm rods, creating a stable support platform for the autofocus system and compatible accessories. This rod-based configuration makes the system easier to incorporate into handheld, tripod, shoulder-mounted, and fully built-out cinema rigs.
Power and motor connectivity are provided through an included USB-C to 7-pin LEMO-type power cable and USB-C dual-motor Y-cable, helping streamline cable management while supporting the components required for autofocus operation.
Whether you're adapting modern PL cinema lenses or bringing vintage glass into a contemporary production workflow, the Tilta Nucleus Autofocus Adapter Base Kit provides a versatile bridge between professional cinema optics and Sony's autofocus technology.
Native Sony Camera Autofocus Data
Utilize Sony's real-time face tracking and eye autofocus when using a PL-mount cine lens.
Seamless Manual/Autofocus Switching
The adapter makes it easy to switch between manual and autofocus modes using the Nucleus ecosystem, which allows you to quickly take control of precise focus pulls or racks when needed.
Lens Data
The adapter features a built-in lens library, so you can choose the proper lens type for sharing lens data. The lens data can be shared with your device using the built-in storage on the adapter, and it can also be accessed using a Nucleus II or Nano II handwheel.
The lens can also be manually calibrated, and that calibration can be saved to the internal lens library.
Dual Motor Support
The lens adapter can be used with a wireless motor, and it can also be set up with dual motors using the included cable to also adjust the camera's iris control.
