OVERVIEW

  • 11-20mm PL Mount Cine Zoom Lens
  • 86mm IRND 1.5, 1.8, 2.1 Density Filters
  • Super 35mm Sensor Coverage
  • Interchangeable Lens Mount

This Tokina kit bundles the super-wide Cinema ATX 11-20mm T2.9 Zoom Lens, in a PL mount, with three PRO IRND 86mm Filters. The round filters, featuring 1.5, 1.8, and 2.1 densities, thread into the front of the lens and neutralize IR contamination, reduce overall exposure, and produce reduced shutter-speed effects.

Note: Lens mounts may be changed by the user but mounting by a lens service center is recommended to ensure accurate focus scales.

Tokina Cinema ATX 11-20mm T2.9 Wide-Angle Zoom Lens (PL Mount)

The Tokina Cinema ATX 11-20mm T2.9 Wide-Angle Zoom Lens (PL Mount) features a super-wide field of view and cine-style design elements. It covers Super 35mm image sensors and is a parfocal lens, holding focus throughout zoom moves. The Cinema ATX 11-20mm maintains a constant T2.9 aperture throughout its zoom range, eliminating the need for exposure compensation as you zoom in. Its durable metal housing withstands the rigors of cine production and incorporates 0.8 Mod lens gears for compatibility with FIZ (focus/iris/zoom) control systems.

Interchangeable EF, LPL, MFT, Nikon F, and Sony E lens mounts are available separately for swapping with the PL mount, expanding the lens's compatibility with additional cameras. The Tokina Cinema ATX 11-20mm incorporates low-distortion glass, and its 9-bladed iris produces attractive bokeh in out-of-focus areas. Focus (feet), iris, and zoom settings are marked on both sides of the lens barrel.

Additional cine features include a minimum focus distance of 12", 300° of focus rotation, and an industry-standard 95mm front diameter compatible with most pro-style matte boxes. An 86mm front thread provides a second filtration option especially useful for low-profile or lightweight rig configurations.

Note: Lens mounts may be changed by the user but mounting by a lens service center is recommended to ensure accurate focus scales.

Tokina 86mm Cinema PRO IRND 1.5 Filter (5 Stop)

Most of today's high-end cinema cameras do not come equipped with a built-in low-pass or IR cut filter since they try to mimic the human eye and receive as much data as possible from the image subject. The more sensitive cameras are to light, however, the more exposure needs to be maintained using a stronger ND filter which in turn creates infrared pollution. To alleviate this issue, many camera manufacturers recommend the use of an IRND filter, even though many of the IRND filters on the market today have adverse side effects that come along with them such as color shifting. In addition to this, after adding or replacing an IRND filter, the white balance needs to be adjusted to maintain true color fidelity, which can quickly become too much work. In the end, the benefit of cutting infrared pollution doesn't seem like much of a benefit considering the need to continually white balance during a shoot and then correct color shifts in post.

In terms of the development team at Kenko Tokina with their innovative Accu-ND Technology, creating a Neutral Density filter that precisely controls the amount of light entering the lens without affecting the color. A revolutionary filter that stabilizes the transmittance of color throughout the visible spectrum.

The round PRO IRND filter has an ND vapor deposition coating on both sides of the glass creating a high precision, truly neutral filter.
