A complete kit for building a versatile lighting tool, Westcott's theC47 Book Light Kitincludes the necessary Slim Jim Cine framework, connectors, and fabrics to create an adjustable V-shaped light modifier that is well-suited for interview and narrative lighting. Created in collaboration with Jem Schofield, founder of the popular filmmaking educational site, theC47, this kit is designed to produce a uniquely soft, flattering quality of light by both bouncing and diffusing the original source.
The included Scrim Jim Cine frame tubes allow you to construct two 4 x 6' frame panels, and two Swing Hinge Corner Frame Connectors pair these two panels to create an adjustable V-shaped frame. The frame tubes all incorporate heavy-duty hook-and-loop tape on two sides for attaching the included touch-fastener-lined 4 x 6' fabrics. Both 3/4-stop plain diffusion and 1/2-stop grid cloth diffusion fabrics are included, for softening the light, and reversible unbleached muslin/black and silver/white fabrics are included for bouncing the light source. Additionally, a dedicated travel case is also included for protecting the kit contents during travel and storage. All combined, this kit is a portable and versatile solution for creating a uniquely soft quality of light well-suited for interviews and other stationary subject situations.
Scrim Jim Cine Frame Tube (46")
- The integral component within a modular system, this 46" long Scrim Jim Cine Frame Tube from Westcott is used to construct customized panels in sizes ranging from 1 x 1' to 8 x 8'. When paired with optional fabrics, such as silks or diffusers, frame tubes form the rigid support from which fabrics are attached to create flags, diffusion panels, book lights, v-flats, or numerous other light controlling tools.
- This tube is constructed from anodized aluminum alloy and heavy-duty hook-and-loop tape is riveted to two sides of the tube for attaching fabrics. A 3/8"-16 threaded mount is incorporated into the tube for mounting atop stands and additional dedicated self-locking connectors are used to combine several pieces of tube to create flat 2D frames or dynamic 3D light shaping tools.
Scrim Jim Cine 2" Straight Frame Connector
