The Sigma FP2 Mirrorless Camera redefines compact full-frame filmmaking, combining powerful cinematic imaging capabilities with an exceptionally lightweight and portable design. As the newest addition to Sigma's FP series, the FP2 features a 35mm full-frame partially stacked CMOS sensor, advanced video recording capabilities, and a versatile modular form factor, making it an ideal choice for filmmakers, content creators, and hybrid shooters seeking professional performance without the bulk of a traditional cinema camera.

At the heart of the camera is a full-frame partially stacked CMOS sensor, designed to deliver detailed imagery and versatile shooting performance in a remarkably compact body. Weighing just 13.3 oz, the Sigma FP2 offers exceptional portability for handheld filmmaking, travel productions, and space-conscious camera configurations. Its lightweight construction also makes it a practical option for filmmakers building compact cinema rigs.

The FP2 supports 6K Open Gate recording, allowing filmmakers to capture the sensor's full imaging area for greater flexibility in framing, reframing, and adapting footage to different aspect ratios during post-production. With ProRes RAW HQ support, the camera provides additional flexibility for professional editing and color grading workflows, giving creators greater control over their final cinematic image.

A newly incorporated tilting LCD screen enhances shooting flexibility, making it easier to compose and monitor shots from high, low, and unconventional camera angles. Combined with its compact design, the adjustable display supports a wide range of shooting styles, from handheld documentary work to creative filmmaking and mobile production setups.

Designed for filmmakers who value both portability and creative versatility, the Sigma FP2 combines full-frame image capture, high-resolution 6K recording, RAW workflow support, and flexible monitoring in a streamlined camera system. Its compact form factor makes it a compelling option for creators looking to maintain a lightweight setup without sacrificing advanced cinematic capabilities.

Combining a 35mm full-frame partially stacked CMOS sensor, 6K Open Gate recording, ProRes RAW HQ support, a tilting LCD screen, and a lightweight 13.3 oz body, the Sigma FP2 Mirrorless Camera delivers a powerful and portable filmmaking solution for creators seeking cinematic flexibility in an exceptionally compact design.

Advanced Autofocus and Sensor System

At the heart of the FP2 is a new 24.5 megapixel partially stacked sensor paired with a high-performance ASIC image-processing system that is 15% faster than the Sigma BF in addition to improved low-light performance with a limit of -10EV. This combination is designed to increase autofocus accuracy and speed, addressing an area where a camera needs consistent performance.
The FP2 introduces enhanced bird detection autofocus powered by a CNN (Convolutional Neural Network). This is an interesting addition for wildlife photographers and anyone who regularly photographs birds. Subject detection aids the camera in identifying birds and maintains focus effectively, reducing the need to rely entirely on manual focus-point placement.

Recording Flexibility and Time-Lapse

ProRes RAW HQ and additional compressed recording formats provide image flexibility and balances convenience for post-production which matters when a project moves from a quick turnaround to a more improved experience. Video output has been added to the existing interval timer with specifications of 4K/2K selectable (H.265, 16:9 only), 24,25,29,29.97, 48, 50, 59.94fps.

6K OpenGate Support

The FP2 supports 6K OpenGate recording for horizontal and vertical video and both are covered from a single shoot by cropping in post.

Cinematic Color Modes

The FP2 introduces three new color modes, Rich, Calm, and 709 Look, that blend stylized rendering with versatility making it easier to achieve the right look for any scene and offer distinct visual character.

Tilting LCD Screen and Heat Dissipation

The incorporation of the tilting TFT color LCD screen with approximately 2.1M dots proves to be a useful addition for monitoring low-angle tracking shots, overhead compositions, and shooting in cramped locations. The screen tilts upward by as much as 90 degrees and downward by up to 45 degrees. Another practical detail worth noting is the screen structure and heat dissipation during recording which contributes to the camera's broader approach to balancing the compact construction with demanding recording tasks.

Prolonged Battery Life

Rated at approximately 370 shots per charge under CIPA testing standards, the FP2's battery life has increased around 32%, compared with approximately 280 shots for the original FP. Battery use will vary based on performance, even so, the higher CIPA rating is a welcome improvement for travel, street, event, and wildlife photographers and videographers.

High Speed Internal Memory

Faster than memory used in previous systems, the FP2 offers approximately 70GB of internal recording capacity, providing a built-in storage option for capturing content without relying exclusively on removable media.

For filmmakers and photographers, internal storage simplifies a lightweight setup and offers additional flexibility when managing files in the field or on set and is especially appealing to creators who prefer to travel light.

Connected Workflow: Wifi and Bluetooth Capabilities

The FP2 is equipped with WiFi and Bluetooth hardware and is intended to work with a newly developed application for iOS and Android.

For creators who want to move images to a mobile device, manage a more connected workflow, or integrate their shooting routine, this is a welcomed addition.
