Tokina Cinema 1.6X Expander PL To PL

The Tokina PL to PL Mount 1.6X Expander is engineered to enable the use of Super35 and Super16 PL-mount lenses on full-frame 6K–8K PL-mount cinema cameras. By optically expanding the image circle by 1.6x, the adapter increases coverage from approximately 29.3mm to 46.7mm diagonal, making S35 lenses suitable for full-frame sensors up to 46.7mm.

Designed for professional cinema workflows, the expander preserves the character of Super35 glass while allowing it to cover larger sensors. For optimal image performance, adapted lenses should be operated at T2 or slower (up to T22).

Compatibility is limited to PL-mount lenses with less than 20mm clearance from the PL mount tabs to the tip of the PL cone. A Clearance Check Tool is included to verify lens compatibility before mounting. The adapter supports most Super35 and Super16 PL lenses with focal lengths of 32mm and longer, as well as most compatible zoom lenses.

Built for high-resolution digital cinema capture, this expander provides a practical solution for maximizing existing PL lens investments across multiple camera formats.

Constructed with seven elements in four groups, the 1.6X Expander features an aperture compensation of just 1.36 T-stops. This expander works best with lenses with T2.0 or larger apertures and when stopped down to T2.8 or less.
