The Leitz Cine HUGO 50mm T1.5 LPL Mount Lens (Feet) designed to be small, fast, lightweight, and as close focusing as possible with the full personality of the Leica M lens glass creating character at capture. This lens gives your images the classic analog curving focus roll-off with arthouse-style character, lens flares, rich colors, and natural dimensional perception. The HUGO cine lens housing has been redesigned from the M 0.8 to match other Leitz cine lenses, and they have enhanced close focus and expanded focus rotation. Also, since they are compact and lightweight, they can be used with gimbals, drones, and underwater cameras where heavier lenses become impractical.

The HUGO lenses share similar characteristics, such as a 92mm filter thread, a 95mm front diameter, a 43.3mm full-frame image circle, and 0.8 MOD standard cine focus gear rings, making the lenses easily interchangeable in the field. The 50mm lens has an extremely close focus of 19.7", a maximum aperture of T1.5, and features lens markings in feet. HUGO lenses can be used with LPL-Mount cameras and professional cine cameras such as RED, ARRI, and Sony VENICE with appropriate adapters.

Updated Design

Building on the popularity of the Leitz M 0.8 series, the Leitz HUGO lenses use the same Leica M optics, but feature a completely new housing design and build quality to match existing Leitz cinematography lenses. These lenses will have an LPL mount as well as the traditional cine orientation of focus and iris scales, expanded focus scales with a 270° rotation, and greatly increased close focus ability.

Classic Analog Image Character

The lenses offer a sharp and focused center with a gradual and pleasing falloff of contrast and light toward the edges, leading the view to the image center as well as adding dimensionality to the scene. The M glass captures faces and skin tones with a timeless style and fidelity.

Small and Lightweight

The compact size of these LPL-mount Leica HUGO lenses is well-suited for gimbal and drone use. Each lens has a standardized 95mm front diameter with a 92mm screw-in filter thread. The 0.8 MOD gear rings allow lens motors and follow focus systems to work seamlessly.

Replaceable Parts

Like other Leitz cine lenses, the HUGO series will have readily available parts, replacement elements, and lens technician training will ensure reliable and consistent use for many years. Existing M 0.8 lenses will be eligible for conversion to HUGO lenses in the future.
