The Misfit Atom Pola+ Rota Ring is used to mount a 138mm circular filter like a polariser or diopter. Once mounted, the 138mm circular filter can be rotated up to 120 degrees, by using the sliding lever on the retaining ring. This range of motion is more than enough to effectively use a circular polariser, which only requires 90 degrees of rotation to achieve minimum to maximum effect.
If you are using anamorphic or macro lenses, 138mm circular diopters can also be mounted into the Rota Ring. When using a +1 diopter, one additional 4x4” or 4x5.65” can be mounted into the frame. If you are using a +2 diopter, no additional filters can be mounted due to the thickness of the diopter. A +3 diopter can be used with the Misfit Atom Pola+ using the rubber bellows donut or Black Hole.
The circular filter is easily secured inside the Misfit Atom Pola+, with no risk of it falling out whilst filming. When no circular filter is being used, the Rota Ring can be removed to allow the matte box to clamp on further onto the lens for a wider field of view.
