Sony Cameras

Question: What is the difference between Sony FE and Sony FE cameras and lenses?

Answer: Each Sony E-mount camera is equipped with either a 24mm x 36mm ("full frame") or 23.5 x 15.6mm ("APS-C") sensor.

Sony FE lenses have an image circle that covers the 24mm x 36mm sensor, whereas Sony E-mount lenses have an image circle that will cover the 23.5mm x 15.6mm sensor, but will not cover the entire 24mm x 36mm sensor.

Sony FE lenses can be used with either "full frame" or "APS-C" cameras. Sony E lenses can be used with either "full frame" or "APS-C" cameras, but they will display vignetting on "full frame" cameras, unless they are used in a crop mode.
